The University of Guildford lived up to its reputation, with complex map reading and route choices between the maze of buildings spread over several levels. On the Men's elite it was Daniel Hubmann ahead of Scott Fraser and Oystein Kvall Ostebro tied in second, with a host of other top names close behind. On the Women's elite it was Sarah Rollins with a successful return from pregnancy, followed by Elise Egseth and Rachael Elder.

The bad weather held off for most of the day, with sunny intervals and strong winds for most runners. But the skies darkened as prize-giving approached, and the torrential hail storm finally arrived half-way through the ceremony, with the ground rapidly turning white under a covering of hailstones.
